Canadian immigration investor programme is expanded
Wealthier, prospective Canadian citizens will be welcoming moves by Canadian immigration to expand its immigrant investor programme, in an attempt to help the country cope during the economic slump.
Jason Kenney, Canada’s minister of citizenship, immigration and multiculturalism, says the move is intended to benefit the Canadian economy, “the Canadian government will soon announce changes in the immigrant investor programme so that we can leverage it better as a source of capital inflows into the country in these recessionary times. http://www.globalvisas.com/news/canadian_immigration_investor_programme_is_expanded835.html
The changes will make the programme more attractive for the investors, who are looking at working in Canada through this route, as well as for the Canadian government.”
The programme allows prospective immigrants to obtain Canadian permanent residency through making an investment of $400,000 for five years.
The changes are expected to be particularly attractive for Indian immigrants, according to experts. Industry onlookers claim that the programme is already attracting increasing numbers of Indian investors.
One immigration expert explained, “Canadian permanent residence rights acquired through the investment category are attractive for Indian high-net-worth individuals because they have very few limitations. The children of investor category immigrants can avail themselves of preferential fees in the Canadian educational institutions.”
