NEWSFLASH! Arrival Survival Canada to be published by Oxford University Press
Immigrant resource guide goes global…
August 2007 – Vancouver, BC – Founder/Publisher of the Canadian Immigrant magazine, Naeem (Nick) Noorani, and Oxford University Press are pleased to announce the signing of Arrival Survival Canada. Considered one of the most comprehensive resource guides for newcomers, Arrival Survival Canada will be in bookstores in March, 2008 and subsequently available worldwide through Oxford’s many international branches.
Arrival Survival Canada is a bestselling handbook for new immigrants providing well-researched, current facts and information, immigrant success stories, and a comprehensive look at some of the issues that immigrants face. The book is a guide for an immigrant’s life in Canada and covers a wide array of subjects such as what to pack before emigrating (and what not to!), obtaining a SIN card, opening bank accounts, upgrading education and skills, creating a credit history, and understanding Canadian culture.
Nick and his wife Sabrina co-authored the book, which was launched in early 2001. “Teaming up with Oxford University Press allows us to reach out through an international distribution network. We are delighted that more immigrants will have access to this information than ever before,” says Mr. Noorani. “We want to help them arrive in Canada informed and ready to hit the ground running.”
David Stover, president of the Canadian branch of Oxford University Press, believes that “immigration has always played a vital role in shaping this country. Newcomers to Canada come from every corner of the world and every possible situation looking for a better life. Oxford is delighted to be able to publish a book that will help them settle into their new country.”
As publisher of the Canadian Immigrant magazine, Mr. Noorani sees a growing need for greater resources for newcomers. “With a quarter million immigrants coming to Canada each year, it’s key that they get a good start. The first years of an immigrant’s experience in Canada set the foundation for their future.”
